Wet scrubbers and spray towers are used mainly for the removal of volatile organic and inorganic compounds, using water as abatement media for those pollutants which are water-soluble substances, using additional chemical reagents in case of inorganic compounds to be neutralized. The design of the plant and the choice of the chemical reagent depends on the substances contained in the gas to be purified.
